Grandpa, Ben, and I decided to go shooting. After all, I just acquired my "new" M-38. So I contacted our old Bishop, Trey Pennington who owns some land out past Bradyville. He gave me the OK so off we went. The place was pretty overgrown so we just stayed in the back of the pickup to shoot.
We let Ben go first. This video is his very first time with a firearm that is not a pellet gun (which isn't actually a firearm). I think he handles himself quite well. We bought a 50rd box of .22 shells and let him burn through them. He had a blast.
Here is the video of me shooting the M-38.
mmmmmm... Muzzle flashies. It should be noted that Dad had a box of more expensive rounds in his collection. I put one of those rounds in last. It got stuck. I guess that the cartridge may have expanded. It happened again when I tried another one later. I think I will stick with the cheap surplus rounds. I only had one failure with those which was the fact that the round wouldn't chamber. Oh well.
We convinced Ben to try out the 91/30. This is his first time with it and according to him, his last. We shall see.
