The Wilhelm Scream

You know, being that I waste a lot of time watching movies, I have noticed lately that there is a sound effect that seems to appear in a lot of films. Over the past several years I have noticed it but have shrugged it off. But lately it has been bothering me. You might know the scream that I am talking about. It has a rather shrill "AIYEEEAAGH!" quality to it. So this morning, I fired up the ol' browser and typed in "movie scream joke" (because I am just sure that this is an inside joke). I found out that not only am I right... But it actually has a name, "The Wilhelm Scream". AND sound editors everywhere try to incorporate it into every film. Heck, It even has a Wiki page. Interesting. Want to hear it? Wilhelm Scream
